You must be at least 10 years of age.
Certain medical conditions may preclude safe diving. During orientation, you will be given a confidential PADI form to complete regarding your medical history. If you have any of the medical conditions which may make diving inadvisable, written permission from your doctor will be required before you begin scuba training.
Yes. You will be required to tread water for 10 minutes and complete a 200 yard swim using any stroke you are comfortable with.
Most classes have 8-10 students. Very often, there is an instructor or a certified assistant for every 2-3 students, guaranteeing you receive the individual attention you need to complete the course successfully.
You will learn how to plan a dive, manage your equipment, enter and exit the water, control your breathing and buoyancy, clear and recover your regulator and mask, breathe from alternate air sources, perform various emergency and safety procedures, use a diving instrument console, and navigate underwater using basic compass skills.
It is recommended, but not required, that you have your own mask, snorkel, and fins. You do not, however, have to buy any scuba equipment nor will you be pressured to. If you choose to purchase your own equipment, we will gladly familiarize you with the various types of equipment available and help you make the right purchase. For the class you will be fitted with a complete set of equipment to use throughout your training. Just bring your swimsuit, towel, and enthusiasm!
The complete course is $550 which includes orientation, classroom, pool, and open water dives. All equipment and air fills included. If you have a group of 4 or more, there is a $25 discount per student.
A $50 deposit is required to reserve your place in a class, with the balance due the first day of class.
If you wish, you may take the class and pool sessions with A.B. Sea's, and complete the open water dives elsewhere (like during your Caribbean vacation, on which we will gladly accompany you!) In this case, A.B. Sea's will provide you with a referral, verifying your Open Water dive instructor that you have completed the classroom and confined water (pool) training sessions of the PADI Open Water Course.
Class & Pool only with referral: $300
Open Water Sessions: $250 plus $20/day for quarry admission (fees are subject to change). Includes all equipment and air fills.
